Side-by-Side Off-Road Comparison | Twin-Tube v. Monotube v. Reservoir

PAOLI, Pa. (March 12th, 2019) – In this episode of ExtremeTerrain’s (XT) “Throttle Out” YouTube series, Ryan Huck visits Teraflex in West Jordan, Utah to talk all about Jeep Wrangler shocks. From piston size and valving, to materials and real-world testing, Ryan spends some one-on-one time with Teraflex’s Chief Technology Officer, Paul Cox, to discuss the three different shock styles before testing them out for himself in the frozen Utahan wilderness.

“Shocks have always been a bit of a magical black box to most people. We know that some shocks are “better” than others but this was a great opportunity to get a first-hand look into why, by seeing how they’re built. Hopefully this video will help people understand what they’re buying when shopping for new shocks!”—Ryan Huck

Products tested include: Teraflex 9550 VSS Twin-Tube Shock Absorbers, Teraflex Falcon Series 2.1 Monotube Shocks, and Teraflex Falcon Series 3.3 Adjustable Piggyback Shocks.

Flood v Fog v Driving v Spot

PAOLI, Pa. (March 5th, 2019) – When it comes to Jeep lighting, no one wants to be left in the dark! ExtremeTerrain’s Ryan Huck recently produced this video explaining various types of auxiliary lighting, what they do, and how to use them. Shining light on a wall from 15 feet away, Ryan compares lighting patterns, weighing pros and cons, as well as the appropriate situations where they should be used. Additionally, we have added this video as a resource to our Jeep technical guides on off-road lighting explained.

Parts featured in this episode include: Lifetime LED 3 in. Square LED Flood Beam, Baja Designs XL Racer Edition LED High Speed Spot Beam, Baja Designs Squadron Pro LED Driving Beam, and KC HiLiTES 6 in. Black SlimLite Halogen Fog Beam.

“I’m a huge fan of all sorts of auxiliary lighting but the different types of lights, what they’re good for, and where they should be mounted can be confusing.  This video explains all of that and is a must see if you’re thinking of adding lights to your Jeep!”—Ryan Huck

TJ vs JL Wrangler

ExtremeTerrain video host Ryan Huck recently visited his “happy place” at Rausch Creek Off-Road Park in Pine Grove, PA with both of his Wranglers, new and old, to have a little fun and see how capable his stock JL is in comparison to his modified TJ. Ryan takes both Jeeps through a series of trails, from easiest to most complicated, to see if the stock JL could keep up with his trusty old TJ.
